~ About Beverlee ~

Beverlee Lehr creates ceramic wall sculptures ranging in size from 2 feet wide to 12 feet wide. Their impact results from three-dimensional designs that mimic nature, variation in gloss from shiny to matt, and carefully chosen colors. Even the smallest of her sculptures can dramatically change the atmosphere of a room.

The sculptures are crafted in modules that are individually glazed and fired. The modules are assembled by hooking them onto a plywood backplate. They are removable for easy transport.

“Color has long been one of my passions. I love dusk and other times when the atmosphere intensifies color. During the more than 33 years I've been a potter, I have been testing colors, looking for ways to be more expressive.”

“At one point, I briefly returned to oil painting to experience more color in my work. But I needed the feel and look of clay with its hard/soft nature and the jewel-like quality of glazed surfaces to do what I wanted. Throughout the years, I continued to be fascinated by glossy glazes surrounded by matt ones. I spent most of the early part of my career making functional pottery, but when the color and form I was experimenting with did not harmonize well on functional pieces, I turned to three-dimensional wall hangings hand-built with clay slabs.”

“I live in rural South Central Pennsylvania with my husband Bill, and I work in a studio adjacent to my home.”
